Paige is back with a special appearance by her puppy Oliver—and a few of his furry friends—in Motivational Minute #95 on Writer’s Atelier TV!
You may have remembered Paige giving very similar advice in an earlier Motivational Minute, but that’s because it always works, people! It truly is evergreen: if you’re stuck in your manuscript, sometimes you need to step away from your computer and hug a puppy.
You read that right.
Disclaimer: sometimes only hugging a puppy may not work. Maybe there is a plot hole that’s really big and scary. Maybe your character is going wacky things you never planned on. Maybe you just noticed that the really important thing that happens in your second chapter actually can’t happen according to your magic system’s rules.
In that case, you may need to hug two puppies.
If the problem is really bad—we’re talking catastrophic—then clearly, the only solution is three or more puppies.
Gather your puppies, gather your support system, and remember that this too shall pass. You’ll solve this writing crisis of yours. It could be all you need is time, a little perspective, and puppy cuddles. Hey, you never know!
Happy writing!
PS. We definitely encourage you to watch the full video this week because the last chunk of it is just cute puppy antics. Who doesn’t need more cute puppy antics in their lives?
PPS. If you’re more of a cat person than a dog person, you can try hugging your kitty close, but your mileage may vary.
