Motivational Minute with Paige Lavoie #71: Disappointments Happen

Paige Lavoie reminds us in Motivational Minute #71 on Writer’s Atelier TV that being a writer is hard. Not only are we balancing trying to work on our stories, but we also have the business side of writing. That can be really challenging.

Not everything will go your way all of the time. Maybe this week you’ve received a rejection letter, your pitch war didn’t go the way you planned, or your book promotion didn’t give you the results you wanted. Disappointments like these happen to everyone at some point, and you shouldn’t be afraid to feel those feelings.

Paige wants you to keep in mind that when a door shuts, you should charge forward and open the door again because it’s a door, and that’s how doors work.

Just because something didn’t work out the first time doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try and try again. Revisit the situation after taking a step back, analyzing what went wrong and what went right, and seeing what changes you can make to bring you success next time.

Take your time. Feel disappointed. Just don’t give up!

Happy writing!
