Motivational Minute #187: When You’re Behind on Writing

Our founder, Racquel Henry is back with another Motivational Minute on Writer’s Atelier TV, and it’s exactly what you need to hear!

Lately, Racquel has noted that writers around her are disappointed that they aren’t as close to finishing their works in progress as they thought they’d be by now. This can happen for reasons ranging from unforeseeable plot twists in the story to simply a busier life at home.

But to echo what we posted on our Instagram feed, “Don’t get stuck on what you didn’t write. Focus on what you can do right now to move forward instead.“

Can you add another thousand words today? Or another five hundred? Never mind the word count you didn’t hit yesterday or the chapters you didn’t get to revise over the weekend. You can only control what you do in the present moment. Take a breath and consider what steps you can take here and now, no matter how small or insignificant they may seem to you. Remember, progress is progress!

Keep going and make yourself proud for getting words down on the page.

Happy writing!
