Writer's Atelier

Highlights from AWP 2019!

We (me, along with our admin, Megan) had a blast at The annual Association of Writers & Writing Program’s Conference, better known as AWP! What a great conference!

There were several highlights. Our favorite part was the book fair! We got to meet some wonderful writers from across the globe and we even gave a few of them a pep talk. The studio also debuted The Complete Revision. Workbook for Writers by Arielle Haughee and we had a terrific response! Below are some of the photos from attendees who took home a copy. (By the way, if you weren’t in attendance, you can still buy a copy on our website, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble!)

I also got to meet a favorite author by the name of Heidi Durrow!

And remember how Lauren Francis-Sharma was gracious enough to take a chance with the studio and allowed us to host her reading (our very first event)? We had a chance to catch up with her as well!

Then there was the phenomenal Jennifer Baker who is a literary powerhouse and runs the Minorities in Publishing Podcast!

We had the best table neighbors too! To our right was Nomadic Press—love the work they’re doing and sad we didn’t get a picture. To our left was Post Road Magazine. It’s a fine literary magazine with a team of funny, smart, and dedicated individuals. They even gave us free copies of the mag!

Last but not least, there was Powell’s Bookstore. Both Megan and I got lost in the stacks! We were there for two hours and it still wasn’t enough! Here’s a pic of Megan at the end of the bookstore visit. (She bought A LOT of books!)

Overall, it was a great time! Thank you to everyone who chatted with us, took home The Complete Revision Workbook for Writers, The Little Book of Writing Affirmations, literary cards, or copies of Black Fox Literary Magazine!

Next week, I’ll have some more updates on the studio and an announcement about our 5-year anniversary! Get ready!
