Save the Dates: Tips for a Successful NaNoWriMo & Preptober Day

Autumn has arrived with its pumpkin spiced breeze, and with it comes the realization that National Novel Writing Month isn’t far away!

Writers rename the month before NaNoWriMo “Preptober” in honor of all the preparations needing to be done before embarking on a 50,000-word, thirty-day journey. This year, in addition to the plethora of NaNoWriMo resources we’ve already made available, we’ll be hosting two free Preptober events that we’d love to have you attend!

But first, make sure you’ve joined our (free!) private network! You will need to so do to access these events. There, not only will you have a safe space away from the cacophony of regular social media channels, but you’ll also get to read our blog posts before anyone else, chat with other members of our writing community, and tell us what you want to see more of from WA!

Tips for a Successful NaNoWriMo by Racquel Henry

It can be difficult to write a novel when you have multiple plates spinning. In this talk, writer, editor, and writing coach Racquel Henry will walk you through tips and strategies to help you successfully complete your novel this November!

This talk will be held Sunday, October 9th, at 1 PM EST.

Preptober Day with Megan Fuentes

On Saturday, October 15, come plan your NaNoWriMo novel with our administrative assistant, Megan Fuentes! During this Zoom call, Megan will guide writers through two sprinting sessions with mini breaks for talking through plot holes and analyzing stubborn characters together.

Feel free to hop on this call whenever you have time on Saturday, even during the break—Megan will be AFK for that period, but your fellow writers may still be in the chat!

The first session will take place from 1 PM to 3 PM. Then, after a break for lunch and rest, the second session will be from 3 PM to 5 PM. (As usual, all times are in EST.)

Megan Fuentes is an author, a freelancer, and a content creator for Writer’s Atelier. Her favorite things in the world include iced coffee, 4thewords, Canva, and telling you about those things. And writing, too. And lists! When she's not obsessing over story structure or helping her family think their way out of an escape room, she hangs out with her partner, Logan—a fellow multi-hyphenate—and dotes on their dumpster kitty, Rochelle. You can find her books at Amazon.com and Bookshop.org. She also sells productivity printables via her Etsy shop. If you liked her blog post, consider buying her a coffee.
