Whether you’re a fan of dystopian societies, space operas, or supernatural tales, this class will provide you with the tools and techniques to bring your imaginative visions to life. So come join us on this journey into the unknown!

About the Event

In this workshop, literary agent Kat Kerr will be providing an in-depth exploration of the various genres and sub-genres that fall under the umbrella of “speculative” fiction. This will include an examination of reader expectations within these genres, as well as a discussion of how authors can effectively craft their stories to meet these expectations. Whether you’re a seasoned writer or just starting out, this workshop is sure to provide valuable insights into the complex world of speculative fiction.

How to Join Us

This class will be held Sunday, June 11, 2023, from 1 PM to 2 PM EST over Zoom inside of our online community.

The investment for this class is $29. To better support Writer’s Atelier, we kindly ask all participants to purchase their tickets using their laptop or desktop instead of on their mobile device through the app. Apple and Android take cuts—up to 30%—from sales on mobile devices, so this ensures more of your money goes where you intended to send it in the first place!

Once you have registered, you will automatically have access to the group event for the class as well as access to our free online community (hosted by Mighty Networks). All the information and instructions are inside this event group within the online community. It works very much like a Facebook group. This is also where you will find the Zoom access information for the class (under the Classes/Events tab). We recommend downloading the app and making sure notifications are turned on. Additionally, participants should RSVP to the Zoom event. Doing these two things will ensure you receive a notification 30 minutes before the event. Please also note that we do not offer refunds. If you have any questions, or need assistance, please email our admin: megan@writersatelier.com.

Can’t make it on the day of? Don’t worry—the class will be recorded, and claiming your spot grants you access to the replay.

Already a member of our online community? Great! Simply navigate over to Classes/Events in the sidebar, and you’ll find the course there!
