A good novel is not merely a package of pretty words. There are layers to it. There are reasons why those particular words follow each other in that particular sequence. It takes a lot of work and an entire team to get a book on its feet, and in the world of traditional publishing, one of those team members is a literary agent.
In this workshop, literary agent Kat Kerr will provide you with guidance on how to make your story engaging and memorable for the reader, and how to craft a strong and compelling narrative—no matter whether you’re going the trad or the indie route to publish your work.
About the Event
This event will be a two-part workshop on how to discover and craft your writing voice as well as how structure, format, and organization also play a part in storytelling.
Part One: On Voice
What does it mean when agents talk about “voice” and how does one craft a “strong” one? This presentation covers the different definitions of Voice and the mechanics that go into creating a unique perspective.
Part Two: On Story Structure
Writing is so much more than the words we use, but also in the space we use them in. In this workshop, we’re going to break down how the different levels of story-structure, format, syntax, and breaks are used to enhance the storytelling journey for a reader.
