Save the Date: Instagram for Writers with Racquel Henry

If you’re a writer and you’re not using Instagram, you’re missing out on reaching a diverse group of readers and you’re missing out on using a growing social media platform to build a community!

In this class, Writer’s Atelier founder, Racquel Henry will discuss how she used Instagram to launch Writer’s Atelier and sell books, in addition to how writers can use it to launch their own careers and build their readership.

Racquel started teaching Instagram classes in 2018, so if you’ve taken this class with Racquel before, it has been updated to reflect current Instagram trends and features.

About the Class

In this workshop, you will learn:

  • Why you need to be on Instagram
  • How to select engaging content to attract readers and followers
  • How to use and leverage IG Stories (including basic design tools within IG)
  • The supplemental apps that can make posting easier
  • The anatomy of the perfect bio
  • How to create an IG content master plan so you’re not wasting valuable writing time
  • How to work with the algorithm
  • The best hashtags for writers and readers

The first portion of the class will be dedicated to learning about Instagram and the second portion will be dedicated to exploring Instagram and creating content in real time. Participants are encouraged to have their laptops, tablets, and cell phones ready since this is a hands-on workshop. Attendees will also have the chance to ask questions. This workshop will include bonus worksheets.

How to Join Us

This class will be held Sunday, July 30, 2023, from 1 PM to 4 PM EDT over Zoom inside of our online community.

The investment for this class is $59. To better support Writer’s Atelier, we kindly ask all participants to purchase their tickets using their laptop or desktop instead of on their mobile device through the app. Apple and Android take cuts—up to 30%—from sales on mobile devices, so this ensures more of your money goes where you intended to send it in the first place!

Once you have registered, you will automatically have access to the group event for the class as well as access to our free online community (hosted by Mighty Networks). All the information and instructions are inside this event group within the online community. It works very much like a Facebook group. This is also where you will find the Zoom access information for the class (under the Classes/Events tab). We recommend downloading the app and making sure notifications are turned on. Additionally, participants should RSVP to the Zoom event. Doing these two things will ensure you receive a notification 30 minutes before the event. Please also note that we do not offer refunds. If you have any questions, or need assistance, please email our admin: megan@writersatelier.com.

Can’t make it on the day of? Don’t worry—the class will be recorded, and claiming your spot grants you access to the replay.

If you’ve already joined our online community, you can find the course under Classes/Events in the sidebar as long as you’re on a laptop or desktop.

And lists! When she's not obsessing over story structure or helping her family think their way out of an escape room, she hangs out with her partner, Logan—a fellow multi-hyphenate—and dotes on their dumpster kitty, Rochelle. You can find her books at Amazon.com and Bookshop.org. She also sells productivity printables via her Etsy shop. If you liked her blog post, consider buying her a coffee.
