1. Cider Press Review’s 2014 Editors’ Prize Book Award
Cider Press Review is now accepting manuscript submissions for the 2014 Editors’ Prize Book Award for a first or second book of poetry.
The annual Cider Press Review Editors’ Prize offers a $1,000 prize, publication, and 25 author copies of a book length collection of poetry. Author receives a standard publishing contract. Initial print run is not less than 1,000 copies. Cider Press accepts submissions for the Editors’ Prize between April 1 and June 30, 2014.

2. The 2014 Gabehart Prize
Each year the Kentucky Women Writers Conference offers opportunities for both emerging and established voices to be singled out and cheered on by the community.
One winner will be chosen in each of three genres: poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction. Winners receive:
- $200, plus up to $100 in travel, lodging, or dining expenses (receipts required)
- The opportunity to read her winning work during the conference in September
- Two general admission tickets to the conference for herself and one guest
- One slot in a small-group writing workshop for winner (if guest also wishes to enroll in a workshop, she must purchase admission)
Entry fee is $10 and the contest closes on June 2, 2014.

The new literary magazine, Tinderbox Poetry Journal, is now open for submissions. They are looking for all forms of poetry–be it formal to experimental, free verse to hybrid voices, lyric and narrative, language and visual, and all else. They are also interested in critical pieces such as essays on craft, poetic issues, interviews, conversations, and the like.

Madcap Review is a semiannual online journal of literature and art. As the name indicates, they embrace the impulsive, the reckless, and the lively, but also have great respect for form and restraint. Madcap Review was founded by alumni fiction writers, poets and artists of the graduate writing program at Sarah Lawrence College. Madcap Review is a platform for any and all forms of writing and art. They have no genre restrictions, because they believe that great writing isn’t easily categorized. The deadline for submissions is May 31, 2014.
