Can you believe National Novel Writing Month is nearly a third of the way over? The projected word count for today (Wednesday, November 9) is 15,000 words! If you’ve been following the suggested path—or even if you haven’t—we’re proud of you for getting that much closer to realizing a writing dream!
We frequently hear from our fearless founder, Racquel Henry during Motivational Minutes, which offers plenty of #writingmotivation, but this week, we’re lucky enough to also have a very practical tip for getting the words on the page.
From the Desk of Racquel Henry:
Once you’re days into National Novel Writing Month, it can start to feel like an uphill climb!
For me, the first few days of NaNoWriMo were quite challenging. I have an illness that requires treatment, which makes me extremely fatigued. I could have given up. But then I pulled out my phone, opened the notes app, hit the talk text icon, and started speaking the book. Before I knew it I had over 1500 words! I did it the following day and used the MS Word app so I didn’t have to transfer anything over. The lesson? Take advantage of talk-to-text! (Ha!)
On a serious note, sometimes switching things up AND being flexible can help you achieve your word count goal. Stay open-minded and keep trying.
