Paige Lavoie is feeling footloose and fancy-free in Motivational Minute #68 on Writer’s Atelier TV!
Our fair lady Paige can testify that first chapters are really hard to write. You have to set everything up and introduce characters while being concise but not boring. That’s a tall order for one chapter!
Fellow writer Taylor Simonds, author of Collateral Damage, gave Paige some offbeat advice: think of your first chapter as your novel’s opening musical number.
Ask yourself this week: What things need to be communicated in my first chapter? How can they be communicated with flair and pizzazz? How can I add flair and pizzazz without adding fluff?
Be creative, think outside the box, and all that jazz!
Happy writing!
