Did you know that daydreaming is also an important part of your writing? In Motivational Minute #54 on Writer’s Atelier TV, Paige Lavoie reminds us to daydream.
Lately, Paige has been a little busy, as you’ve seen from the multitasking videos where she’s doing her laundry, putting away groceries, etc. With this “busy-ness,” she hasn’t been writing every single moment of the day, and that’s okay.
What Paige has been doing instead, is letting herself daydream…a ton. She’s been missing her characters, wanting to hang out with them and looking forward to getting back to her story. So, the moments where she does get to sit down and write (because she’s been thinking, and dreaming, and having conversations with them in her head), she’s more productive and excited. The point is: let yourself daydream. Stare out of windows and think about your characters. Imagine what they’d be doing right now and what they’d be doing in different scenarios that you’ve been going through in the last couple weeks.
Paige has been sitting down with her day planner and making sure she’s at least carved out thirty minutes a day to start writing and hang out with the characters she missed. Whether it is ten minutes, thirty minutes, or a glorious hour, see where you can carve out time for your writing this week.
Happy writing!
