Motivational Minute with Paige Lavoie #134: You Can’t Pour From an Empty Cup

Paige Lavoie is zooming in on a swivel chair in Motivational Minute #134 on Writer’s Atelier TV!

First of all, have you done what you can today to do your part in dismantling white supremacy? Good! Then let’s take a minute for ourselves, shall we?

We’re in a place right now when we want to give our time, our money, and our focus to causes that need it. And that’s a wonderful thing!

But we also need to take time for ourselves. Take time to recharge, take time for our (work or personal!) projects, and take time to do things that are fun. Like writing. Though sometimes it’s stressful, writing is something a lot of us need to maintain that sanity in our lives.

Writing is our therapy. Paige has often pulled out her phone when she can’t sleep at night to tap out and tap through her anxiety.

Make time for you, and make time for your story. Your stories are valid. They need to be told, and you are the only person who can tell them. Don’t feel guilty for taking those moments for yourself.

Remember that you can’t pour from an empty cup.

Happy writing!
