Motivational Minute with Paige Lavoie #118: You Don’t Have to Rush

Happy New Year, writer! Paige Lavoie is back in Motivational Minute #118 on Writer’s Atelier TV—the first of 2020!

But Paige’s body has already betrayed her. It’s only the second week of 2020, and she’s already caught a cold. Paige is pretty grumpy about it, too. Doesn’t her body know that she has stuff to do?!

Then Paige took one of her deep breaths and reminded herself that she doesn’t have to crush all of her new year’s resolutions today. There’s a whole year ahead for planning out new adventures and new stories.

Does that mean Paige won’t—or shouldn’t—set short-term goals or break down her long-term, overarching goals? Of course not! But it’s unrealistic to think that Paige needs to get it all done this week.

Setbacks may be scary, but remember that you have time. Also, you have (or can start making) plans to achieve your goals—break them down into more manageable, actionable tasks. Schedule your writing around your crazy-hectic life.

And of course, as always, you’re going to remember to be kind to yourself, right?

Happy writing!
