Motivational Minute #191: No More Overanalyzing, Writer!

It’s another Motivational Minute with our wise and fearless leader, Racquel Henry! Can you believe we’re fewer than ten episodes from #200? We can’t!

Over on our Instagram feed, Racquel posted a reel declaring that, as writers, we’re lucky we can make adjustments whenever we need to, so there’s no need to overanalyze each decision!

This is something Racquel is wrestling with in her own writing life. As she dives further into revisions on her current WIP, Racquel has found herself spending entirely too much time making decisions about characters, plot points, and more. But the thing about overanalyzing is that not only does it waste our precious, all-too-short writing time, but it also keeps you from moving forward. Whether your goal is to find an agent and get published traditionally or go the indie route, ultimately, you’ll need a finished manuscript!

So make a choice. Any choice. (Even if it’s a somewhat random choice.) Have faith in your writing abilities and recognize that, even if you make a mistake, you’re smart and capable enough to make the necessary changes later.

Happy writing!
