Another Monday, another Motivational Minute from our founder, Racquel Henry! #189 is going to hit home for all of the perfectionists.
This week, we’re talking here and on our Instagram about needing to write rough drafts to get to our final drafts. Recently, Racquel opened up a two-year-old manuscript to find that there was more work to be done than she thought.
But did Racquel spiral?
Well, yes, who wouldn’t? But Racquel only spiraled a little because in the time between when she wrote her first draft and now, she has gained wisdom. That wisdom will inform the choices that she makes during her next round of revisions.
And the same will happen with you. You will look back at your old work and cringe because you have gotten better. Thank your past self for all of the blood, sweat, and tears they put into your last draft. Without that dedication, you wouldn’t have something to edit.
Now polish that draft and make it shine, writer. Your readers are waiting.
Happy writing!
