Motivational Minute #168: Reclaim Your Writing Time

Our founder Racquel Henry is back this week to give us another pep talk in a one—okay, two and a half—minute video! (The more minutes, the merrier, right?)

The quote for this week was about reclaiming your writing time. It’s a concept that Racquel has been mulling over a lot lately, especially with the new year having just passed and all the writers over in The Write Gym talking about their goals for the new year.

So many writers are still stuck in their past. They dwell over the words they didn’t get down when they were “supposed to” and the goals they didn’t achieve. But Racquel wants to take a second to remind us all that it doesn’t matter if you said you were going to write every day or every Tuesday last year and it didn’t happen. At any point, you can choose to reclaim your writing time.

That’s the beauty of the writing profession. The rules are, there are no rules!

Instead, focus more on taking that time back. Brew your coffee or tea, sit down with your notebook, and brainstorm writing times that would work for you now—even if it’s just for five minutes. You always have the choice of taking back your writing time and writing life.

Happy writing!
