It’s October–that means National Novel Writing Month is around the corner! Have you started thinking about your novel? Maybe you’re new to NaNoWriMo and don’t know where to start. Perhaps you could use some pointers on how to make life easier while you write your novel during the month of November. Whatever your level, be sure to take advantage of the series of workshops happening across central Florida during the month of October. NaNo 101

October 2, 2016, 2 PM at Orange County Library System (101 E Central Blvd, Orlando, FL 32801)

New to NaNo? Never been to a NaNOrlando event? Didn’t make the 50K last year? Then this is the event for you. Come learn some tips and tricks for noveling success and a brief introduction on how to prioritize word vomit over basic life skills like laundry. Hosted by our ML, Brad (MrShreffler, not MrsHreffler).

NaNo 201

October 9, 2016, 2 PM at Orange County Library System (101 E Central Blvd, Orlando, FL 32801)

Pantsing for plotters and plotting for pantsers. Yeah, that’s happening.

NaNo 202

October 16, 2016, 2 PM (Location TBD)

A perfect companion for NaNo 201, we will be discussing characters and conflict. Location is still TBD, as details are still being finalized for this event.

Panel on researching for novels. Local authors will discuss what their research process looks, and how to work research into a successful November.

Preparing Your Life for NaNoWriMo

Paper plates, clean clothes don’t need to be folded, Stouffer’s is your friend. This month will be crazy, and we will provide some suggestions for organizing your life and making it through the next 30 days.

Racquel Henry is a Trinidadian writer, editor, and writing coach with an MFA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She is a part-time English Professor and owns Writer’s Atelier. Racquel is also the co-founder and Editor at Black Fox Literary Magazine and the Editor-in-Chief at Voyage YA. She is the author of Holiday on Park, Letter to Santa, and The Writer’s Atelier Little Book of Writing Affirmations. Her fiction, poetry, and nonfiction have appeared in various literary magazines and anthologies. When she’s not working, you can find her watching Hallmark Christmas movies.
