“Writer’s Atelier has provided me with several opportunities that led to publishing poetry and short stories over the years.
And if it weren’t for the Write-Gym and Racquel’s coaching, I would’ve given up on my passion project last year when I got busy with work. But thankfully the group helped me stay accountable. Now my follower list is growing, and I’ve consistently continued to publish my newsletter for two years now!“

Frequently Asked Questions
Sometimes, you just need a support system. It has been proven that when you have friends along with you on the journey, you’re more likely to stay focused. You’ll also be surrounded by like-minded individuals who have similar goals and interests. The point of this program is to hold you accountable for your own writing, but that will be much easier when you have other writers cheering you on along the way.
This program is for both new and established writers who are ready to get serious about their careers. Skillset is irrelevant since the point is to actually commit to your writing career and achieve writing goals. We welcome writers of any style and background!
During our virtual writing sessions, we spend 30 minutes writing, and the remaining time is used for group coaching chats. Here you can talk about how you crushed a goal, and maybe it might help another writer. You can disclose breakthroughs. If you’re having a hard time keeping up or have a particular problem with your writing (plot, character, setting, etc.) you can also express that, and maybe we can help you iron it out. Racquel will also answer your writing questions.
Research shows that most people give up on their goals between January 12th and 17th of each new year. The point of our program is to keep the momentum going to the end of the year, regardless of your writing career goal. Plus, chances are, you’re going to stick with it if you put your money where your mouth is and if you have a supportive community.

- The Write Gym Spotlight: Take a Look Inside a Monthly Inspiration Guide
November is the last full month of autumn, and it’s famously a month many of us writers associate with hunkering down to draft novels and other long-form projects. If you’re feeling a little low on inspiration this month, we have just the thing for you: a sample of one of The Write Gym’s Monthly Inspiration… - Wise Words for Your Writing Space from The Write Place Contributors So Far
This year has been full of special occasions for Writer’s Atelier! We had our tenth anniversary back in May, and we also published our fiftieth The Write Place post! Now that we’ve hit this milestone, I thought it would be fun to look back at all of the contributions so far and hand-select a few… - The Write Place #50: Raquel V. Reyes
I wrote my first (traditionally) published novel, Mango, Mambo, and Murder, on a black plastic card table. The squareness of the table allowed me to have all my notes and reference things visible and handy. The manuscript took me a year to write. Sometime in the early part of that year, I invested in a “good”… - The Write Place #49: Mia Heintzelman
My writing routine starts with coffee, a clean desk (my brain thrives on order), and a bookshelf full of craft books behind me. From there, the big decision is which computer/keyboard/screensharing device combination I’m going use. Usually, it’s my laptop shared to my desktop with a Bluetooth keyboard. Once the Cozy Coffee Shop YouTube channel… - The Write Place #48: Jen Knox
I’m one of those writers who isn’t very routine-oriented, unless I’m at a writing residency or in some place where I have total focus (which, I’ll be honest, isn’t home). That said, I love to write in the early mornings after walking my dogs and a little meditation. I have momentum and the sharpest mind… - The Write Place #47: Denise N. Wheatley
My writing process is ever-changing. Where I write oftentimes depends on the time of day or my word count goals. If it’s early, and I’m shooting for a marathon session, I’ll write in bed (despite owning a desk—LOL!). If it’s later in the day and I’m working toward a two or three hour session, I’ll… - Important Announcement from The Write Gym
For six years, we’ve run our accountability program, The Write Gym. Together, our members have celebrated career-shifting milestones, learned from experts in the industry, and written thousands of words during our twice-weekly virtual write-ins. As we enter its seventh year, the monthly investment for The Write Gym will be increasing from $20 to $25 on… - The Write Gym Workbook or the Novel Planner: Which Should You Buy?
As September winds down, we’re looking ahead to the last quarter of 2023. This is often the busiest time of year for all of us—not just because of the holiday season, but because National Novel Writing Month is almost upon here! Veteran Wrimos know all too well just how quickly these days go by. So, what’s the… - 3 Tips from The Write Gym’s July Masterclass with Brandon Goode: No Heroes Allowed: Writing Villains
We spend a lot of time discussing how to make characters sound unique, describe what characters look like, and craft satisfying character arcs. We spend far less time talking about how we can go about writing the antagonists of our tales, the villains. On July 22, author Brandon Goode taught a masterclass on writing villains…
