Motivational Minute #132: Give Yourself a Gold Star

Paige Lavoie wishes us a good morning and many gold stars in Motivational Minute #132 on Writer’s Atelier TV!

Today, Paige wants to remind you to reward yourself.

Writing is one of the most fun jobs in the world, but it can also be incredibly difficult. So when you do something big like finish a rough draft, send your first query letter, or send a complete manuscript to your editor, you should feel free to treat yourself a little bit.

When Paige finished the rough draft of her latest manuscript, she went on Etsy and bought herself a fancy new robe. Now, every time she puts it on, Paige is reminded of how excited she was to finish that draft! (And we’re excited for you, Paige!)

It’s fun to not only wear but surround yourself with tokens of success. Of course, it doesn’t have to be a physical item. It could be whatever you consider the adult equivalent of a gold star. You’re a grown-up. You can make your gold star happen.

Paige’s robe is her gold star, but what’s yours? What treats do you use to reward yourself—cupcakes, movie nights, or new pens? We’d love to know in the comments below!

Best wishes, stay safe, stay connected to your community, and…

Happy writing!
